I have worked with Tim, on and off, for 2 years. Initially, he helped me through the daily back pain I was having. He designed me a simple program to alleviate my back pain and get stronger.  

Recently I have started working with Tim again to lose weight and develop strength. I love his minimalist approach. I don’t need much equipment, which is great because I have a small space I’m working out from.

 "I have been training with Tim since June 2022. On September 5, 2022 I had a bad bicycle accident. My head hit the pavement (helmet on of course – thank goodness for that) and the right handle bar pushed into my left side. 

I had either broken or cracked ribs, which was very painful. But with the help of Tim each week I can now say on October 14, 2022 I am almost recovered. 

I know I would not have healed as quickly without the help from Tim. I was also able to ride 42.65 km for the NewRoads Lakeride on September 25, 2022. Thanks Tim, You are the best!"

"I started working with Tim because I was always having back issues. In our initial session, he identified one of the key causes to my back pain, and I was able to incorporate his customized program into my current exercise routine. 

I did not think that I could achieve significant weight loss, and so I always told myself that it wasn't important, and my relationship with food was too toxic to fix. The thing is, Tim gets it. I have a much healthier relationship with food, and I know which foods are making me feel good, and I was able to lose 20 pounds this year!

Our workouts have ramped up as I have been improving, and we go at a pace that is manageable but still challenges me. I've gotten stronger, I have more mobility, and I am able to stand still in line at the bank - no fidgeting due to my body feeling uncomfortable. More importantly, my back pain is gone!”

I worked with Tim in 2013/2014 and had great results. He helped me improve my posture, strength, mobility, and confidence. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end and life took us into different directions. Throughout that time, we kept in contact with each other by catching up and keeping each other apprised of our new ventures.

Since 2014, I got older (obviously!) and my life became very busy as I had a baby. Although I kept active throughout my pregnancy, I did not have an easy pregnancy. My blood pressure was consistently high, I had gestational diabetes and had to have an emergency c-section. Since that time, I have had difficulty with weight management and both my blood pressure and sugar. My doctor told me that if I am unable to control my blood sugar, there is a high probability that I would end up with diabetes by the age of 50. Since having my daughter, my body has felt tight and I would get headaches multiple times a week.

In 2021, I made a “New Year’s Resolution” to get my life and my body back on track. I started to work out more on my own and changed my diet to what I believed was healthier. Although I was seeing some results, I was not seeing the results I was hoping for. My body still felt tight, I was still experiencing back pain from the pregnancy, both my blood pressure and sugar were high and I was still getting a lot of headaches.

I decided that I needed help and considered hiring a personal trainer. I was not sure where Tim was in his life, and business, but I had always told him that if I was going to work with a trainer, I wanted to work with him again. I reached out to him and explained my situation and, to my surprise, he told me that he was back in Kingston and willing to work with me! I have been working with him online and in-person (COVID-Permitting) since March, 2021 and I can honestly say that I am seeing results already. My posture is improving, my back does not hurt anymore and my headaches are less frequent. I follow a strict nutritional plan that has helped me lose 10lbs. The best part is that in the short period of time that we have worked together, I have been able to control both my blood sugar and blood pressure.

My results are a reflection of maintaining a healthy diet, regular training sessions, and knowing that I have a trainer like Tim who is well-versed in the area of fitness and healthy living. He taught me that it is okay to ask for help and to be accountable to myself because what I do, and not do, plays a big part in my everyday life. Since working with Tim again, I feel more confident, less stressed and anxious. Each session with Tim is fun, yet challenging, and I look forward to them. Even my daughter and my cat enjoy taking part in our sessions.

“My name is Doreen, I’m 75 and I’ve had a long history of health complications and chronic pain. I had Polio at 3 years of age, Glandular Tuberculosis at 4 years,  was hit by a car at 13 years, had 3 fractures to my left hip,  developed osteoarthritis in my early 40s, diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in my right breast in 2003 stage 1, a brain tumour (meningioma) in 2005,  a left hip replacement 2017,   Mucinous Carcinoma in my right breast in 2017 stage 1,  and Type 2 diabetes diagnosed in 2021. 

I met Tim when he began teaching fitness & movement classes for  “Breast Cancer Action Kingston”, a charity organization that helps support breast cancer survivors and those battling breast cancer. When I went to the 1st class I was a bit worried due to my health history and chronic pain - but by the end of the session I was ecstatic! I knew I had finally found someone who could help me with my lower back pain.  

Originally, I thought I had sciatica but it wasn’t that at all, it turns out I just needed to strengthen my core and glutes, improve my movement, and loose a little weight. Tim taught me how to do all of that, using only a chair, yoga blocks, a yoga strap, and a stretchy band. Under Tim’s direction my chronic back pain (of over 45+ years) improved in no time at all. Between taking the two classes he teaches each week, and some daily mini workouts he designed for me at home, my pain is almost gone. It’s Unbelievable!  

Balance has always been an issue for me, my gait has always been wobbly , and my legs pidgin toed, as a result of to the polio I had as a child. This, along with a hip replacement, made getting up and down from the floor or rising from a chair quite hard. Tim has helped me with this as well, teaching me how to rise from the floor, and how to move from sitting to standing in a way that requires less effort.

My results are amazing after only a few weeks of training sessions. I can rise from a chair with ease, sleep through the night pain free (on both sides) and finally I don’t gasp in pain when trying to make meals (not bent over in extreme pain and crying).

I am 75 years old and recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (September 2021.) At that time, I weighed 170 lbs. I set a goal of 145 lbs and as of today, December 27th, I weigh 153 lbs and feel great. 

For many years as a child, after my polio, my parents took me for Chiropractic treatments. As an adult I did physiotherapy therapy, massage, other exercise regimens, and methods for overcoming chronic pain … but Tim was the one who changed my life!”

I was suffering from shoulder, back and knee pain. Physio seemed to only provide a temporary fix. I was looking for a permanent solution. A friend recommended Tim Bell because she had suffered similarly, and only after a couple of sessions with him she was feeling pretty good. I have to say it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. After only one session I was moving and feeling a lot better. I continue to improve and am virtually pain free. My shoulder moves well, the stiffness in my knee is gone and my lower back is in great shape. I move and breath better. Thanks Tim!!!!

"When I started seeing Tim I was experiencing a lot of really intense shoulder pain from repetitive motion at my job. Working with Tim helped my shoulder pain alleviate almost immediately - not joking, I couldn't sleep through the night without being woken up with pain and after the first session I was able to sleep all night!

I work a very physically demanding job so it's been hard for me to integrate exercise into my routine. I often felt too tired and run down from work. Tim was able to design a program that worked with my demanding job instead of tiring me out even more. He was able to adapt on the spot depending on how I was feeling that day. He addressed my problem areas, where I was experiencing pain or discomfort, while also making me stronger and more mobile overall.

“I feel so much better since I started my sessions with  Tim. We’ve only worked together 4 times, but I already have noticed an improvement.  I have less discomfort in my back (almost none) for the first time in two years.  My shoulder has a torn subscapularis tendon, and now my range of motion is much better than it has been in a long time.  The exercises Tim gave me targeted the areas I needed to focus on, as well as helping me move better as a whole. I haven’t felt this good in years. "I've been working with Tim for a year and obviously I wouldn't continue if I didn't experience extremely positive results. I knew that I was really in need of improvement of my flexibility/movement, and a program to address body imbalance issues and pain in my hips and back, developed through several years of very hard road cycling.

Tim has been excellent at providing a program that is based on a set of principles that seem quite common sense -- proper posture and alignment of the spine, for example -- but which I find is prone to a huge range of advice ranging from expensive equipment to mysticism. I found Tim's breakdown of the situation into basic physical issues such as the angle of the pelvis or expanding of the ribcage understandable and un-intimidating.

If you are interested in hearing about the background of the techniques and theories, Tim is able to reference the source material he is drawing from, but at the same time he does not insist on bombarding you with a lot of stuff to make a point about his knowledge.

Finally, I like the very minimal amount of equipment needed for my program so that I can do probably 75% of it with a resistance band and a stack of books. If I do find tightness in my back or glutes due to a hard bit of exercise or just sitting or sleeping in a way that things get knotted-up, I find that I can use the routines to solve most of the issues with a few moves during the course of the day. I'm now moving pain free, and feel stronger than I ever have in my entire life.”

“I met Tim 2 years ago, and have been working with him ever since. Having gotten away from regular training, and feeling more stress in my life, I knew I needed to get healthier - but I wasn’t sure how.

Tim worked with me, and figured out a plan, that was just the right pace for me. Not only is he deeply knowledgable and experience, he has an ability to seamlessly adjust/tailor our sessions, on the fly, in order to address my needs on that given day. "I started weekly training with Tim six months ago. After an assessment of my physical skills, Tim designed a training plan to assist me in achieving my goals, to increase my fitness level and improve my posture.


The exercises he gave me to do were appropriate for my level and were easy for me to do at home. After six months of training, which included seeing Tim once a week and doing the exercises at home, I have experienced changes in my flexibility, mobility, and movement in ways I had not anticipated.

"I started working with Tim in June last year. After more than 30 years sitting at a desk and in planes I had lost a lot of fitness, didn’t feel strong anymore and had frequent hip pain that sometimes woke me up at night.


Tim completed an assessment and set a personal training plan to work on mobility, strength and fitness. He doesn’t judge, but instead just starts from wherever you are and helps you get better. I had some “sticky” joints that are still a work in progress but almost fixed! My hip pain is essentially gone and I feel stronger at every day things as well as in the gym.

This is because of a program tailored to the specific things I needed to build mobility and strength safely. The program uses more resistance exercises than fancy equipment so I can practice much of it on my own as well which is great. .

Not all of it is fun, but Tim is fun and effective and helps you through it to get results. It’s hard to get past the excuses and just start....but it is worth it and much easier with a coach like Tim!"

"I have struggled with my weight my entire life, before starting with Tim I had tried crash diets, gym memberships and had a bad experience with another personal trainer.


I barely made it out the door for my first meeting with Tim, being extremely out of shape my nerves almost got the best of me, but I am so happy that I did! I was skeptical (to say the least) when Tim said all I had to do was meet with him 2-3 times a week for workouts and follow a diet designed for me and my genes. After everything I had tried, this seemed a little too easy. But a year later I am down 40lbs (just bought my first ever pair of size 3 jeans!!) and feel better than I ever have.

Tim makes living a healthy lifestyle straight forward and attainable. He doesn’t just give you a standard meal plan to follow blindly, but instead provides you with the information to make good food choices. The passion that Tim has for fitness, movement, and health is evident in the enthusiasm that he brings to every session.

"I’m a recently separated 32 year old who started working with Tim.  As I found myself going through many lifestyle changes, I wanted to get my body and mind back on track as well.  I believe as long as you’re confident with your body, your mind follows suit.  Growing up, I was always a bigger girl and was never confidant with who I was.  I played a wide variety of sports, which helped, but I was still missing the satisfaction I needed.  

 I have done a few boot camps with Tim and am now training with him.  I have never owned a set of scales because of my self-image issues, so I never knew how much I weighed.  I do know however that I dropped 10 pant sizes and my level of playing sports has increased exponentially.  

 I obviously had to buy a whole new wardrobe and I just found it amazing.  I could only shop in certain stores and used to buy something just because it fit.  Now I can shop in any store and buy something because it fits and looks good.  As for playing sports, I am now competing on a guy’s level.  I am keeping up with them and even overtaking some of them.

 I never thought I would enjoy working out as much as I do, but I can honestly say that I am addicted now.  Tim makes it so fun and proves results.  I just got back from Cuba and I was actually proud for the first time in my life about my body and I rocked a bikini the whole time!  Without Tim, this would have never been possible!  Thank you so much Tim for giving me what no one has been able to…self-confidence! "I first started training with Tim when I started gaining weight I was eating just to stuff myself and loved my beer ... and it showed. I gained around 20lbs and weighed around 180lbs. I didn't know what to do, where to start, and I needed something I could do in the little time I have when I'm not at work. Tim helped design a program for me that fit into my schedule, made sense, and didn't require any equipment. Tim also helped outline a nutrition plan that was easy to follow and made a lot of sense. "I was a little apprehensive about working with Tim at first because I did not have a good experience working with a personal trainer previously, but once we started working together, he showed me that he truly cared about me and wanted to help me change my life by teaching me how to take care of myself properly.

For the past three months, Tim and I have been working together to improve my flexibility, mobility, nutrition, and wellness. He has taught me the importance of pairing up a great diet plan with a good fitness plan.

"It truly is amazing how what we eat and how much exercise we do affects how we feel not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well. I have struggled with extra weight for the past 17 years as a result of poor eating choices, and not being able to commit to a regular exercise routine.

I always seemed to blame myself – not enough willpower, lack of accountability, too tired, too stressed etc…the list can go on. I had so many good intentions but was never able to follow through long term. I can now look back and realize that my food choices, especially sugar and wheat, played a major role in PMS symptoms, migraines, fibroids, lethargy, even inflammation and kept me on an emotional roller coaster for so many years.

When I first started working out with Tim this past May, he introduced me to an intuitive way of eating. Right away it just seemed to make so much sense. For 2 months I did not eat wheat, sugar or dairy, except the occasional Greek yogurt. I have also worked out with Tim at least 2-3 times a week depending on my work schedule.
 
 In 3 moths, I have lost 20 lbs and am so happy that sugar no longer controls my life! I haven’t even had a single migraine. I am excited to exercise and meet Tim for my workouts. Tim’s training is so easy and stress free. Tim has been able to improve my strength and cardio conditioning every week. I am still impressed with how little exercise you need to do to see results. I don't have a regular work schedule and sometimes work strange hours, but Tim has always managed to work around my crazy schedule.

"Since leaving high school and getting a job sitting at a desk all day I ballooned to 220 pounds.  I kept procrastinating about getting back in shape as I was continually staying active playing sports. However, I never lost weight and always felt heavy.  Within 4 months of working with Tim I lost a little over 30 pounds, down to 190lbs, and went from a size 44 pair of jeans down to a 36.  With Tims help keeping the workouts simple and only small modifications to what I was eating I feel better than ever.
